My
name is Martha Simmons and I am so glad to have your child in my class this
year. I have taught first grade
for 18 years. I have also
taught second grade, kindergarten, and music education. My husband and I
have two children, Steve and Christi.
We also have a grandson, Jack, who is the light of our lives.

This
year we have been studying about habitats and the three things all plants
and animals need in their habitats: food, water and air. We learned about living and non
living things and some examples of each. We are learning about short vowel sounds,
how to write a sentence and ways to punctuate these sentences. We are
reading many stories and writing letters to some of the characters. In math, we are adding numbers,
learning what comes before and after, and writing to 100. In Social
Studies, we are finding out about our family trees. We are actually going to
“make” our family tree.
