In Science Lab, Mrs.Sexton, third, fourth,
and fifth grade students did activities to learn about plants and
animals. In March,
students went outside to learn about camouflage. Third graders also studied
about Turtle rescue and fourth graders did Animal Bingo using the
Smart Board.
A
special welcome to Miss Maggie McHugh who is now teaching two days a
week and working with Mrs. Allye
Godwin’s students! Students have been practicing their
multiplication, doing lessons about greater/less than, and
measurement. In Language
Arts, students are learning about antonyms and homonyms.
Mrs.
Allye Godwin’s fifth grade students
learned about WW II and reviewed important events for their Social
Studies test during their Monday tutoring time. Third grade students learned
about the Civil War and are reviewing for the PACT test.
Mr.
Sexton who is now teaching two days a week, works with fourth graders
on Mondays and Mrs. Michelle Davis’ students on Tuesdays. Recently his students read
parts in a play about important American symbols and people.
Mrs.
Michelle Davis’ third graders have been doing word-work
activities with blends.
In Math, students practiced their measurement skills.
Mrs.
Amy Martin’s fourth graders have been learning about Westward
Expansion, the gold rush and problems with Mexico during Social
Studies enrichment. In
Math, they worked with shapes and geometry concepts.
Miss
Sheena Cook’s fifth graders read to locate main idea and find
details. In Math, they
worked on decimals, fractions, and measurement.
Our
after-school students are very fortunate to have such dedicated
teachers tutoring them!

There
will be no after-school program Friday, April 25th, since there is no
school.
The last day for after-school
tutoring for this school year will be Friday, May 30th.
